IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!
It is Mandatory for the candidates at admission at doctoral studies to confirm their obtained place by going to the secretariat of the Faculty of Physics by July 31, 2026 at 12:00 with the following documents:
• The original Baccalaureate diploma or the equivalent diploma,
• The original bachelor's degree or the equivalent diploma and the supplement to the bachelor's degree,
• Master's degree/master's certificate (for graduates of the current promotion) or the equivalent diploma and the supplement of the master's degree,
• Proof of online payment of the registration tax.
For candidates who have registered online and the following documents:
• Birth certificate in photocopy,
• Marriage certificate or other act of change of name,
• C.I. or passport photocopy,
• Proof of online payment of the registration fee for the admission contest or the documents sent by email for the candidates who benefit from the exemption from the registration fee,
• scientific activity report,
• list of titles of published scientific papers,
• proposing a topic (in writing) in accordance with the research topics related to the vacant positions of doctoral student put out to competition by the doctoral supervisor,
• a comprehensive bibliographic list for the proposed topic, on the basis of which the admission competition can be held,
• certificate of linguistic proficiency, xerox copy (according to the annex on the types of linguistic proficiency certificates, attached to this methodology),
• cardboard envelope file.
Upon confirmation of the place, in order to enroll, the registration fee (50 lei) is paid and the study contract is completed. The registration fee is paid online as follows:
Step 1 – access the link https://po.unibuc.ro/servicii_studenti.php
Step 2 – the Faculty of Physics is selected and the Registration Fee for the first year – 50 lei.
The proof of payment of the registration tax is submitted together with the above-mentioned documents.
The registration fee is NOT refunded.
After 01.07.2025, the title of Doctor in Physics is awarded by Decisions of the Rector of the University of Bucharest. These decisions can be found at here.
IMPORTANT!
According to Art. 15 of the REGULATION of organization and conduct of doctoral studies programms at the University of București (see the section Students/Regulations)
the doctoral student has the following obligations:
alin. 7: The doctoral students enrolled at the education form full-time studies, will present in their monthly reports, in a section dedicated to mandatory activities, a description of these activities conducted in that month, which should include a proof of the participation (list of presence, certification from organizers, etc) endorsed by the doctoral supervisor.
alin. 8: The doctoral students enrolled at the education form part-time studies, will produce a semestrial report, which, besides a section dedicated to the research activity, will comprise a section dedicated to mandatory activities, containing a description of these activities and the period of their execution, which should include a proof of the participation (list of presence, certification from organizers, etc) endorsed by the doctoral supervisor.
Please take into full consideration this requirement. As proof you can include in the reports a picture/image of the respective certificates of attendance.
The full list of mandatory activities will be requested before the pre-defense of the doctoral thesis.
This additional document, valid starting with 20.11.2025, must be filled in before the mandatory activities are included in the contracts of studies.
Regarding the minimum number of mandatory activities, this is established as follows:
- for doctoral students enrolled in the academic year 2021/2022: at least 2 activities;
- for doctoral students enrolled in the academic year 2022/2023: at least 4 activities;
- for doctoral students enrolled in the academic year 2023/2024: at least 6 activities;
- for doctoral students enrolled in the academic year 2024/2025: at least 8 activities.
If the mentioned activities were conducted in the period 2021-2025, the application (mentioned in the additional document) will include the description of the activities and the date/period of their execution.
Types of mandatory activities
Templates of certificates of attendance at:
- public defenses of doctoral theses
- public defenses of habilitation theses
- scientific event
- courses
- assistance at courses/seminars/examinations/evaluations sustained by the doctoral supervisor at BSc/MSc programs
Taking into account the change in the legislative context and the current economic-financial restrictions, but also the fact that the state budget does not provide for special allocations for social scholarships for doctoral students and that, as a result, there is no adopted budget at the CSUD level for social scholarships for doctoral students, the Metodology of allocation of scholarships and other forms of support for doctoral students of the University of Bucharest, adopted in 2019, was suspended as approved by the Senate of the University of Bucharest in the meeting on 17 December 2025
