UNIVERSITATEA DIN BUCUREŞTI FACULTATEA DE FIZICĂ
Experimental and Computational Physics, Medical Physics
In the direction of doctoral studies Experimental and Computational Physics, Medical Physics you have the opportunity to become familiarized with concepts specific to these disciplines and to become involved in top-level research activity in the Faculty of Physics as well as in collaborations with medical facilities.
In particular, you will be supervised in a vast area of research themes, such as:
- study of specific molecular and cellular interactions, of the interactions of artificial and natural membranes with different (macro)molecules, of the interaction of radiation with biomacromolecules, cells and tissues, of bioelectrical signals in normal and pathological conditions (prof.dr. Aurel POPESCU);
- computational biophysics/biomedicine. We offer projects in which
biomolecules of major interest for bio-medicine are studied theoretically and modelled on computers and super-computers, in close
collaboration with experimentalists. Doctoral students will benefit from regular meetings for scientific discussions, receive training in modern data analysis, writing of scientific articles in English, and scientific presentations at conferences. A doctoral study in
computational biophysics/biomedicine can become a first step toward a career in science or industry - for instance, data science or pharmaceutical industry (prof.dr. Ana-Nicoleta BONDAR);
- imagistics in medical physics, in particular the connectivity dynamics of the human brain with applications in the diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases, machine learning and computational learning, and deep learning networks with applications in anti-terrorism, in facial recognition, biostatistics, digital processing of biomedical signals (prof.dr. Radu MUTIHAC);
- clinical neurophysiology, in particular intracranial electrical stimulation, stereoelectroencephalography and stereotaxy (prof.dr. Andrei BARBORICĂ);
- applications in medical physics of investigative methods developed in atomic and nuclear physics (prof.dr. Octavian DULIU)
More information on the research areas in which you can be supervised by the above-mentioned doctoral supervisors, as well as their contact data, can be found here
The coordinator of the direction of doctoral studies Experimental and Computational Physics, Medical Physics is prof.dr. Ana-Nicoleta BONDAR
